Push and pull motivations

Of all kinds of motivations we can see, push motivation is the most important. It means that if you have this motivation you have the desire to rest, escape, health, fitness, and social interaction.

Basically, push motivation is present in every person. Although they are useful, they are ‘’weak’’. This means that even a small obstacle between you and your goal, can cause disappointment and regret. This can have a negative effect on your future, because you can lose motivation for further progress. Although, obstacle can cause losing your motivation, beating them will provide you bigger desire to move on, and to achieve your goal. At the end, push motivations strength depends on you, so, try to make them very strong!

Opposite of push motivation is pull motivation. The biggest difference is that pull motivation is much stronger than push motivation. They provide you feeling that desire to achieve your goal is so badly that it seems the goal is pulling you toward it. It is much easier to be pulled toward some goal than to push yourself toward it. Pull motivation is present among people who we consider very successful. It looks like these people are solving any problem much faster than ordinary people and that they are ‘’designed’’ for success.

The truth is that they are pulled toward their goal, so badly, that everything else is unimportant. Some people believe that intelligence can help with motivation and can prevent depression. The truth is different. Some studies found that people with higher intelligence have bigger chance to lose their motivation! The explanation is, these people consider a small fail as their mistake, which leads towards regret.
